Have you ever tried to make your own vanilla sugar at home? You’ll be amazed at how quick and easy it is. It’s also a great zero waste tip as you’ll be giving a second life to your split pods, the seeds of which you’ve already used.
For 1 kg of homemade vanilla sugar
- 5 split vanilla beans (you have already used the seeds)
- 1 kg of sugar
- Place the vanilla beans in a large airtight jar.
- Add the sugar and close the jar.
- Allow the sugar to soak up the vanilla flavours for at least ten days. Store the jar in a dry place away from light. Shake it from time to time to prevent the sugar from sticking together.
